'Padmavati' 3D Trailer Launch: 100-Member Mob Threatens To 'Burn Down Theatres' If Movie Is Released

Mumbai: Nov 01, 2017, Much like the shoot of Padmavati that was plagued with controversies and vandalism, the 3D trailer launch of the film too wasn't without its share of incidents. A 100-member mob of Rajput Mahamorcha made their way outside the theatre in Andheri where the trailer was being launched yesterday, to protest against the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor starrer. "We don't want the trailer to be launched," hollered Ajay Sanger, leader of the organisation, as he distributed pamphlets stating that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was distorting history and "hurting the sentiments of Hindus by showing Rani Padmavati as the object of Alauddin Khilji's affections." The mob intended to disrupt the event, but their plans were thwarted by heavy police bandobast. Two police vans and four jeeps were stationed outside the venue, with several cops patrolling the premises. Padukone, who attended the event sans her two co-stars and director, was provided with additional security of 10 cops, besides her regular bouncers. Speaking to mid-day, Sanger said, "We won't allow the film's release till Bhansali shows it to us. We damaged the Kolhapur set and that was just a warning. We will burn down theatres if the film is released. If anyone gets injured or dies, the government will be held responsible." He added that they have lined up a meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. "We want him to take charge of the matter. It is high time Bhansali came out in the open and took a decision on the subject." Meanwhile, at the event, a fiery Padukone made her intentions known, loud and clear as she said, "Nobody can stop Padmavati from releasing. We are doing nothing [wrong]. Our heart is in the right place. I feel as if I am living her and she [Rani Padmini] has blessed me." Bhansali's magnum opus has had a rocky journey from the storyboard to the audiences. Members of Rajput Karni Sena had attacked Bhansali and stalled the film's shoot at Jaigarh fort in Jaipur in January. Soon after, in March, the film's set in Kolhapur was torched.

Tejasswi prakash is set to return with Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya

Mumbai: Popular TV actress Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar is all set to return to the small screen with Rishta Likhengey Hum Naya, a new show that may take the story left incomplete by Pehredaar Piya Ki forward. The pretty actress, who will essay the role of Diya Ratan Singh, has been paired opposite Rohit Suchanti of the Saath Nibhana Saathiya fame. As per the narrative of the show, Diya, on account of her promise to Maan Singh, a Royal, gets married to his minor son Ratan Maan Singh to protect the little boy from those conspiring to kill him. In Pehredaar Piya Ki, Tejasswi was paired opposite 9-year-old Afaan Khan. In the controversial show, she essayed an eighteen-year-old girl who is married to a boy 9 years younger than her. An online petition was moved to demand for a ban on Pehredaar Piya Ki, which was described as "obnoxious and perverted" content that could "severely impact impressionable minds of children". Pehredaar Piya Ki, which means "guardian of the lover" raised a lot of eyebrows with its launch sometime in July. Asked if she found the show progressive or regressive, Tejaswi during an interaction a few months back said, “I think it's really progressive. But again, a lot of people believe in judging a book by its cover... They love being judgmental and people have nothing better to do than judging somebody else's work. Then okay, what can I do?” Following massive criticism for promoting ‘regressive content’, Pehredaar Piya Ki was abruptly stopped from being telecast. The decision to pull the show off air was reportedly taken under pressure from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Now, Rishta Likhengey Hum Naya is all set to narrate the extraordinary relationship between Diya and Ratan. According to reports, Ratan will return to India after completing his education abroad. The story will revolve around the complex relationship between Ratan and Diya. To make the story intriguing, the makers are also planning to introduce another female character as Ratan’s new love interest, reports suggest. A new teaser of the show was unveiled recently. In the latest teaser, we can see Ratan deliberately falling into a lake. Diya jumps into the water to save him only to realise that he pretended to drown. He tells her that it is his habit to play with life oblivious of the fact that a crocodile is marching towards him. Diya promptly takes him ashore and tells him that it is her habit to save his life. It is apparent from the teaser that Ratan is a flamboyant careless boy while Diya is matured and exteremely responsible. Will Ratan and Diya's relationship blossom? Let's wait and watch.

sonakshi and sidharth starrer ittefaq to be made in telugu

sonakshi sinha and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Ittefaq is yet to hit the screens, but the trailer was enough to tease Telugu producers to consider it for a remake. If a report in DNA is to be believed, producers from South have shown keenness to make the film in Telugu. A source was quoted as telling the daily, "Abhay Chopra and Juno Chopra have been approached by a few South makers to sell the rights of their film. They want to remake the film in Telugu. Abhay and Juno have had several discussions and are also keen to give the producers the right to remake." While Karan Johar's film is an adaptation of the 1969 film starring Rajesh Khanna and Nanda, the Telugu producers want the rights to the new version of the film. The basic premise of Ittefaq remains the same but the new film has a twist.
