Michael Jackson Is this the moment that changed Michael Jackson's life forever?
When the star's hair caught alight while he was filming a Pepsi commerical in 1984, no one could have forseen the dramatic fall-out from the incident.
Jacko's bonce was on fire for an astonishing 11 seconds before he realised what was happening.
Minders watching from the sidelines at the shoot rushed to extinguish the flames, but not before a large patch of hair painfully burnt away, leaving the singer with a permanent bald patch.
Now doctors close to the late Hollywood legend are claiming the event all those years back led to Michael becoming reliant on painkillers, and in particular Demerol.
Michael's hair on fire during a 1984 incidentThough the results of Jacko's second post mortem have yet to be confirmed, some commentators believe it was an injection of Demerol that triggered his untimely death last month.
"That Pepsi commercial debacle was a seminal event in Michael Jackson's life," Michael's former publicist Stuart Backerman told Splash News, adding that it sparked his "desce
nt from the King of Pop to a walking tabloid headline".
"He was in pain, deep, incredible pain, and he was prescribed Demerol," Stuart went on, "Like a lot of people who get prescription drugs, that turned into a semi-habit.
"I have heard from very, very good sources that at 11.30 a.m. the day he died he was given an injection of Demerol."
